Documentation to be included in our application

Applying for a job entails thorough preparation and usually includes the following documentation:

  • The first is to write or update your Curriculum Vitae:(CV) which forms the basis of making yourself known to prospective employees.    By the way, Curriculum Vitae means “story of my life”; something very few people know.  Though we will deal with the qualities of a properly prepared CV later, the following two hugely important facts need to be highlighted here:
    • Do not write a book about yourself:  If you for example apply for an IT position, please do not mention that you sold fax paper earlier in your life.  Employers are not at all impressed with irrelevant information in a CV.  They only want to see what applies directly to the position advertised and whether you have the skills and knowledge to do the job.
    • Your CV must be “reader friendly”:   Information must be grouped and presented in a format that makes your CV easy to read and to find information.
  • Secondly you are advised to also prepare a résumé, which is a shorter document aimed at briefly introducing and marketing yourself.
  • In the third place, maybe you should prepare and include a generic covering letter.  We say “maybe”, because a covering letter previously was inherently part of an application, but nowadays seems to be out of fashion.

TalenTech also provides the following opportunities to job seekers to present a detailed personal profile to prospective employees:

  • A video clip of 30 seconds:  Go the extra mile and include this in your personal profile.  It will increase your chances to be successful in your application.
  • Verification of academic qualification(s):  Fraud is a huge problem. Please provide us immediately with the necessary permission to verify your qualification(s). Prospective employees love a personal profile with a tick in the “Qualification Verified” box.
  • Referee evaluations:  Employees attached great value to the evaluations of referees.  You will therefore tremendously enhance your chances to be successful should you include referee evaluations in your personal profile.  Please note, however, that this information will only be released with your permission to parties mutually agreed between yourself and TalenTech.
  • Online interview:  You can configure your personal profile indicating whether you are available for an online interview.  We strongly recommend that you do this as this might be your opportunity to convince the prospective employer to appoint you.  Should other candidates do this and you don’t, you will be at a definite disadvantage.
